Figures show the success of Mabo: with its five “nerve centres”, has now more than 150 employees located across Italy, East Europe, China and London. In 1990 the headquarters of the company was moved to Telgate, near Bergamo; in the heart of an industrial zone famous for the production of these fashionable items; so much so that the place is also known as “The district of the button” - actually the only one here in Italy.
Mabo Spa is the mother company, and was first set up in Grumello del Monte by Giuseppe Signorelli and Teresa Maria Manenti in 1952. In 1990 the company move to Telgate, including administration office and all button's production plants.
Just in Italy, the two Mabo group factories total 18,000 square metres in size.
Zama Italia opened in Telgate in 1990 to cooperate with Mabo. Zama Italia takes care of all production and since 1995 after it move to Chiuduno even the creation of the moulds. The company specialises in buttons production and metal accessories. The name comes from "zama", an alloy made by zinc, aluminium and copper. Zama has two fundamental features, resistance and adaptability to any type of processing.
Romania is an european country where majors fashions houses focus their productions, so a strategic market for Mabo In 1997 in collaboration with Anca Bulata Mabo created Mabotex, still connected with the mother company but is also autonomous and able to satisfy all the demands of local market. Mabo Italy supplies Mabotex and Mabotex produce belts and covered buttons and can also provide a dyeing service.
Founded in 2002 Mabo Ukraine can produce covered buttons and also enamelling and can deliver from its own warehouse.
Ukraine has traditionally been the main producer of clothing for the Soviet Union and has retained this role even after the division into republics. The group has two commercial offices in Ukraine, one in Kiev and the other in Kharkov. The first exports to Europe; the second covers the home market.
